The Golden Nugget
The Official Journal of The Historic Cabarrus Association
The Cabarrus Genealogy Society published the inaugural edition of its quarterly journal shortly after its establishment in June 1993. Initially titled The Cabarrus Genealogy Society Journal, the name was later changed to The Cabarrus Golden Nugget, now The Golden Nugget, to honor the county’s rich history of gold mining. A subscription to The Golden Nugget is included with a paid membership to the Historic Cabarrus Association. Our journal features a diverse selection of original articles focused on Cabarrus County families, local history, historic preservation, research methodologies, resources, and updates from our partner organizations.
In response to growing demand, we launched The Golden Nugget as a digital publication in the spring of 2020. Whether you reside in Cabarrus County or beyond, you can receive the latest issue of The Golden Nugget in PDF format via email. This digital format enables us to provide timely delivery to our donors. Recognizing that some donors prefer traditional print copies, we will continue to offer a print option for Individual donors and above. To subscribe, please consider joining us as a member of the Historic Cabarrus Association.
Back issues of the journal are available for $5.00 each, plus shipping and handling. While some early print editions are sold out, digital options for past issues remain accessible.
We welcome submissions related to Cabarrus County history or genealogy for consideration for publication. For inquiries, please get in touch with us.
