Preserving the Past: Cabarrus County’s Meadow View School Begins Journey to Restoration
HCA, Niblock Homes, and the City of Concord, with the assistance of community partners, have worked to relocate Meadow View School and will continue efforts to reconstruct it alongside a replica of Red Hill Tavern near the 1757 Phifer Family Graveyard on Lucky Drive.

Long-lost piece of history: Early 19th century African American schoolhouse found
Following the abolition of slavery, a Jewish philanthropist learned that African Americans had little access to education. So, he built more than 5,000 schools across the South. Now, historians in Concord believe they’ve found the last-standing school in the county, and they’re working to preserve it.
