Collecting Policy
Historic Cabarrus Association (HCA) collects, preserves, and interprets materials that document the people, places, and events of Cabarrus County, North Carolina. Our goal is to safeguard complete, well-documented collections that allow us to tell meaningful and connected stories for future generations.
We Actively Collect:
- Papers, photographs, and records of significant Cabarrus County individuals, families, and leaders.
- Materials from local institutions, organizations, schools, churches, and businesses.
- Collections highlighting African American history, rural education, the textile industry, commerce, and civic engagement.
We May Decline:
- Unidentified or unlabeled photographs without context.
- Single items (e.g., isolated uniforms, loose magazines, individual documents) unless tied to an existing collection.
- Duplicates of items already held.
- Objects outside the mission and geographic focus of Cabarrus County.
