
Historic Cabarrus Association Kicks Off 2025 With “Legacy & Launch” Event
The Historic Cabarrus Association (HCA) proudly kicked off the new year with its "Legacy & Launch" event, held in January 2025 at 73 & Main, a celebrated historic preservation project and award-winning restaurant located in Mount Pleasant, NC. This event marked a significant milestone for the organization as it unveiled its new brand identity and logo to the public, symbolizing a renewed commitment to preserving and promoting the rich history of Cabarrus County.
A Celebration of Heritage and Progress
The "Legacy & Launch" event brought together community members, local leaders, and supporters of historic preservation to celebrate the HCA's renewed focus and future endeavors. The evening featured a panel discussion with prominent local business owners who have made substantial contributions to the redevelopment of historic properties in Cabarrus County.
The panel included:
- Steve Steinbacher, co-founder of Cabarrus Brewing Company, has played a pivotal role in revitalizing historic spaces in Gibson Mill for modern use while maintaining their character.
- Ed Hosack, CEO of Cooperative Christian Ministry, has been instrumental in transforming historic sites like Brown Mill into community resources that serve those in need.
- Dr. Allen Dobson, owner of 73 & Main and Southern Grace Distilleries, shared insights on his journey of restoring the historic Mt. Pleasant prison, among many other historic properties in Mt. Pleasant, into a thriving destination.
These local leaders discussed their experiences and the importance of preserving Cabarrus County's heritage while adapting it for contemporary use. Their stories highlighted the impact that thoughtful redevelopment can have on the community, fostering economic growth and cultural appreciation.
Unveiling the New Brand Identity
A highlight of the evening was the official unveiling of HCA's new brand identity and logo. This rebranding initiative reflects the organization's dedication to engaging the community and enhancing its visibility as a steward of local history. Justin Moore, a member of the HCA Board of Directors and owner of Sublmnl, the brand development agency responsible for the rebranding, expressed his excitement about the new identity: "Our goal is to bring the history of Cabarrus County to life for future generations. This new brand will help us connect with a broader audience and inspire curiosity about our local heritage."
