Old Courthouse Theatre

The Old Courthouse Theatre (OCT) has been a cornerstone of arts and culture in Cabarrus County since 1976, when visionary artist Mary Snead Boger brought her dream of establishing a community theatre to life. With a single meeting at the Hotel Concord and an audience of eager locals, Mrs. Boger sparked what would become the region’s premier center for live, local performance.

From its humble beginnings—staging its first sold-out production, Cabarrus Chautauqua, in the Historic Cabarrus County Courthouse courtroom (now The Davis Theater)—OCT has grown into a thriving organization that has delighted audiences for more than 50 seasons. Now housed in a beautifully repurposed church building in downtown Concord, the theatre continues its mission to entertain, enrich, and enlighten through the performing arts.

Each season typically includes four mainstage productions and a spring musical, ranging from beloved classics to bold contemporary works. OCT also champions local creativity through its annual 10-Minute Play Festival, inviting regional playwrights to share new stories around a fresh theme each year.

The Old Courthouse Theatre remains true to its community roots—run by passionate volunteers, supported by local audiences, and committed to preserving Concord’s small-town charm while showcasing big artistic talent.

Old Courthouse Theatre has been Cabarrus County’s premier community theatre since its first production in 1976 under the vision and leadership of Mary Snead Boger.
