Becoming a member of the Historic Cabarrus Association is one of the most impactful ways to support the preservation of Cabarrus County’s heritage. Your membership helps fund exhibits, educational programs, and preservation initiatives that keep our community’s history alive. Members enjoy exclusive updates, discounts, invitations to special events, and the satisfaction of knowing they’re helping protect the stories, landmarks, and legacy that make Cabarrus County unique. Without you, our work would not be possible.
The Concord Museum was founded in 1939 when the Concord City Aldermen requested that the Coltrane-Harris Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy create a home for artifacts of historical significance to the community. The Historic Cabarrus Association, as we know it today, was formed in 1973 by local citizens passionate about preserving and restoring the Historic 1876 Cabarrus County Courthouse. The original Board of Directors, along with the originators of the Old Courthouse Theatre, saved this wonderful historic treasure from demolition.
