The Historic Cabarrus Association proudly serves as the official county committee for the America 250 NC commemoration for Cabarrus County, NC.

At the heart of this initiative are county committees dedicated to planning and organizing events, projects, and initiatives that celebrate our local history while connecting to statewide commemorative programming. These committees act as vital conduits, amplifying the rich heritage of our state and fostering participation from a diverse array of local organizations and groups in creating meaningful America 250 NC events and resources.

In 2026, we will commemorate 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, marking the establishment of a nation founded on the principles of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Over the past two and a half centuries, our country has experienced profound changes and faced numerous challenges. This commemoration offers a unique opportunity to reflect on our founding ideals and consider their lasting impact over the past 250 years. We aim to create programming that answers the question, “How do these ideals resonate in today’s Society?”

Join us as we explore pivotal events, significant places, and influential voices—both historical and contemporary—that have shaped our state and nation.
